The Prince William BOCS announced a new directive to support local TNVR initiatives. Details on how this additional $48,000 will be used and when are not clear. This directive is a result from the 2026 funding for TNVR going unused as of June 30, 2026, the end of the 2026 fiscal year. Those funds went back into the general county fund and not used to address TNVR as intended. The 2027 funds and program are on hold at the Prince William County Animal Services Center due to a renovation to the HVAC system, promoting the directive from Supervisor Jeannie LaCroix on July 14. The community is encouraged to reach out to their Supervisor to see what the next steps are and when this program can start making an impact. It is reported that there are 50,000 feral/outside/community cats in the county and there was a 30% increase in cats in the Animal Services Center in 2026 already.
