What is Kind News?
Kind News Magazine™ is an eight-page publication that helps children understand and respect animals and think about why treating animals and people with kindness matters. The magazine encourages both empathy and critical thinking in children by celebrating the human-animal bond and helping to motivate children to take action to improve the lives of animals. Kind News uses engaging articles and short features to emphasize issues affecting animals, how to understand animal behavior and how to care for pets. Its appealing design and interactive content help enhance children’s enjoyment of reading, as well as spark critical thinking and thoughtful discussion. The magazine is delivered 5x/year September through May.

There is no cost to participate
All teachers must renew their subscription each year. No automatic renewals.

RedRover is now the official Kind News™ Magazine publisher. Kind News has been a flagship of the humane education world since 1983, teaching kids—and often, their parents and teachers—more about the animals who share our world and how to care for them. The Prince William SPCA is excited to work with RedRover to offer Kind News to our schools.

Deadline to participate is June 11, 2018. Schools eligible for this program must be in Prince William County, Manassas or Manassas Park, Virginia.

What Teachers are saying about KIND News:

“I loved it! Not only each paper magazine, but the access to the electronic issues from the past. I enjoyed the timely articles and how I could use them to get my students thinking about the world around them. I especially liked the issue that discussed WHY you should not feed water fowl people food. Hopefully that increased awareness will transfer to a healthier environment for our local bird population.” ~ 5th Grader Teacher at Signal Hill Elementary School

“I love it and my students love it! They were always so excited to read the magazines and keep them in their book boxes for reading later on.” ~ K Teacher at Elizabeth Vaughan Elementary School
